Country portraits in black and white

This client found us through an internet search.  She read on our website where we had plenty of beautiful landscape and wanted portraits of her darling children in black and white.  It was windy that day, so we went into the gully away from the wind.  Usually children are only good for about a half hour but we were having so much fun we were able to get some inside shots too.  I created a collage with the inside portraits and gave them a sepia tint as shown below.  Aren't they adorable?

Graduation and family portraits

This client who is one of our repeat customers wanted some graduation portraits.  After I knew we got a good variety using a couple different backgrounds and studio and window lighting, we did a few family shots outside.  Since they didn't plan to do family portraits and weren't dressed to match, we converted the portraits to sepia and black and white.  I've included my favorites from the portrait session.  Enjoy!

A Fun Photo Session with Danielle

When I asked Danielle what she liked to do, she immediately responded "shopping!"  That's the reason for the purse shot shown below as one of her favorites.  I wasn't sure if they would go for the cat eye glasses, but it turned out to be one of her favorites also.  I saw Danielle had an iPhone with her so we grabbed a fun shot with her holding it so I could insert the same pic in the phone.  I got tickled how her mom reacted during the photo session; she could see how lovely her daughter looked as we went from pose to pose! :) They loved the collage we put together with three of her portraits which can be viewed on my website here. Here are some of our favorites from our session on Friday afternoon.

Alma wears an 1800's Ladies Side Saddle Riding Dress

Ace, our Palomino horse, didn't like being separated from Stardust.  I think Ace thought we were going to permanently separate them.  His eyes got big when my husband saddled him up for Alma's portrait session.  I didn't expect to get very many good shots, but was very pleased with the results.  Specially like the wildflowers in the full body/horse shots.  Ace looks so content in these photos.  Alma wore a beautiful 1800's ladies side saddle riding dress on Ace and we brought the saddle into the studio and got a lovely shot with Alma posed on the saddle.  I've included quite a few favorites from her session for your viewing pleasure.  A slideshow with all of Alma's graduation portraits can be viewed here.

Alma's High School Senior Portraits

This session was a blast!  I probably spent less time in this session than any other senior session this year but had a higher ratio of favorites than any other session.  Since I knew what Alma would be wearing, I had matching backgrounds ready so I wouldn't have to spend time during their session to set up.  The weather was cloudy but we made do with my husband being my faithful reflector holder and getting those pretty catchlights in the eyes.  I have included some of my favorites so you have plenty to view and enjoy! :)  Alma wasn't able to bring a violin for her session, so I created a collage using a violin as a background which can be viewed on my website here.

Janiya graduates from K5

We hadn't planned on doing any outside portraits but since it was such a beautiful evening I couldn't help myself!  Plus Janiya had on a gorgeous dress when she arrived.  Janiya made my job so easy and fun as you can see by the beautiful portraits of her that I have included for your viewing pleasure.  Take a look at the graduation invitation card that we designed that they ordered. It can be found here on my website in the Creative Design album.  Enjoy! :)

A wren and pretty wildflowers

The bird landed on the porch right outside our bedroom window.  The shot was taken with our Canon 70-200 lens and through our sliding glass door.  This is probably the closest that I have ever been to a live bird.  I think his arms are so cute in the second photo!  The wildflowers were taken over a period of a few days.  Been busy with graduation portraits and found some time to share these with you for your viewing pleasure.... :)
