Rare Lunar Eclipse

This eclipse only comes around every few hundred years.  NASA predicted that it would be colorful with red/orange colors, but for some reason the colors didn't show up from the Kansas area.  I was fortunate that I was able to get some shots as the clouds were skimming over the moon.  The first shot is before the eclipse, then the last three are a partial, half, and full eclipse.  Enjoy!

Nash Christmas Card Portrait Special

The Nash family took advantage of my Christmas card portrait special.  I threw in an extra pose so I could try out my new baby carriage prop.  I know now that any other baby I pose in it should not be over 5 months as Nevaeh barely fit in the carriage.  :)  Here are a few of my favorite poses from the session.  I placed their Christmas card on my website for your viewing.  Enjoy!

Funny Farm Animals

Trying out my new wide-angle lens on my pets.  This lens is really cool to use for some fun wedding shots.  I normally don't post this many pics on my blog, but these are so hilarious that I thought you would enjoy them all.  Poor Ace (the Palomino) looks like a camel.  He and Dakota kept trying to chew on my camera. It was entertaining to sit on the ground just above Ace and take these shots of him that made him look like a camel.  Enjoy!

Christmas Card Portraits

Aaron and Cristina took advantage of our Christmas Card Special advertised on Capturing The Moment Photography's website.  You couldn't ask for a better client than this family.  Their son, Izaak, was such a good sport!  He seemed so content that he was a joy to photograph!  There were so many pics that I liked, it was hard to narrow down my favorites, however I've included six of them for your viewing pleasure!

You Can't Please Everyone...

Not even a dog treat could get her in a good mood.  Java is over 70 years in dog age, so she must be becoming an old grouch!  Anyway, I was able to get a few shots of her before she jumped off the table and headed for underneath our bed to hide!!! :)

My Beloved Pets and Country Pics

It's been a bit since I posted so I'm doing catch up work.  Here are just a few pics I've taken in the last couple weeks.  I can never have enough of my pet pics as they provide so much joy in our country lives.  Have you noticed how well fed they look?  It's hard not to give them sweet feed treats almost every day.

Soon I will be doing a Christmas portrait session with Java, our dog, so stay tuned.... :)

My favorite time of year...

I love this time of year!  The weather and colors make living out in the country such a blessing!  Last week when I noticed the colors starting to change, I grabbed the camera and got a few shots in my yard.  I had been wanting to get a shot of my pond for my website so that customers will see what it looks like out here; hence the shots of our pond below.

We have so much fish in our pond, but do you think they are biting?  No way!!!  I don't know what their problem is.  The other morning, I suspected a large turtle might have hooked my line.  I could not pull it in.  Finally my line broke.  I don't know what I would have done, had I pulled it in! :)  I sure wasn't going to try to take the hook out of its mouth!

Anyway such is the country life.  Here are some of my favorite pics from our yard.  Enjoy!

My Cute Grandkids...

Fabian and Tre worked with Grandpa on the shed this weekend, then they helped me paint/stain the porch railings.  I took advantage of the opportunity to get some professional portraits of Tre, and I must say, he didn't need any coaching on posing. :)  Later on Myra came to visit and she got to meet the horses and donkeys.  Myra didn't want to pet them; she called them, "Disgusting!" But Myra really likes Java, our dog, as you will be able to tell by the pics.

Here are a few of my favorites from their visit.  Enjoy!

Mandi and her little friends...

I was so looking forward to this second senior session with Mandi (Amanda), as she wanted a country theme with her little friend Jordan.  For the country theme, I used a horse saddle and posed them on it using my new brown background.  (I got the idea from a photo I saw of a sleeping baby laying on a horse saddle.)  Mandi also brought along her brother and two other friends for her portrait session.  I really liked the colors from the session she did with Michaela that I created a collage and will put it on my website homepage soon.  Hope you enjoy my favorites from this fun session!!! :)
