Autumn has arrived!

I so enjoy doing portrait sessions during this beautiful time of year!  Trisha wore an outfit that went with the scenery which made for some gorgeous portraits. Here are a few of my favorites from the session from Friday night.  Enjoy!

Our babies are gone...

Boy, it sure was tough to see our babies go off to the sale barn!  We sure got attached to them since we got them last Spring.  We were able to feed a couple of the steers from our hands.  These close-up photos were taken with my "fun" 20mm lens.  Aren't they the cutest steers you've ever seen?

Yo-yo Buddies

My grandson, Fabian, turned 14 years old on September 13.  He invited his friend and yo-yo buddy, Mikey, to his party on Saturday.  I did a quick photo session of them playing their yo-yos.  Here are all the shots taken of them playing their yo-yos. Enjoy!

Alyssia and her sister Gabriella

I had this portrait that I have been wanting to do for the longest... a little girl under a huge tree where the tree frames the portrait.  I got my opportunity with baby Alyssia and her sister Gabriella as they have this beautiful huge tree in their yard. The weather was perfect, Alyssia was sleeping, and it only took a lollipop to get Gabriella to cooperate so well during the session.  Here are my favorites from their session.  Enjoy!

More Alaskan Favorites

Here are some more of my favorite photos from Alaska.  This mountain range photo was taken on our first train ride from Fairbanks to Anchorage.

Some photos look better in black and white and I thought this photo fit that category...

I saw this seal before anyone else on the ship since I was using my 100-400mm lens.  It was a gorgeous first morning of our cruise.

The lighting made for some good reflection photos for this glacier.

I never get tired of photographing seagulls.  Here's one looking for a treat! :)

I stayed out on the ship till it got dark to get this photo.

Just before dark the sky had a pink hue.  It was beautiful!!!

This was taken after arriving in Canada before taking the train ride back to Alaska.  These rock collections have a meaning for the natives but I forgot what it was! :)

 This is my favorite shot while in the rain forest in Juneau, Alaska.

 Here's another version of the fireweed in front of the Mendenhall Glacier,

 I don't know what kind of fish these were but they were jumping out of the water.

God gave us beautiful weather on our last day cruising to Vancouver, Canada.

The Alaskan Wilderness

I recently came back from a 10-day cruise-land tour in Alaska.  My is it beautiful up there!  Cold too!  I never thought I would be glad to be back in warm Kansas! :)  It made for some beautiful photography.  I took so many photos but will only include my favorites from the trip along with some narratives about our location.

First, let me say that God was so good to give us good weather during most of the trip; unusually good weather.  I didn't know this but it is usually cloudy and rain most of the time in Alaska.  I took this photo from my seat on this train.  We took a train ride from Fairbanks down to Anchorage where we would board our ship in Seward.  This is my favorite photo from the trip.  The pretty pink flowers are called fireweed.  Alaska was so beautiful with these wildflowers.

College Fjord was our first destination.  This photo was looking away from the glacier at College Fjord. The ice in the water had broken off from the glacier.

This is the another view of a glacier.  It is running down around the middle in this photo.

I went on a photo safari and got to see some whales.  I was so looking forward to seeing bears but didn't get the opportunity during my trip.

Here's another glacier.  We probably saw over a dozen glaciers during the trip.

At one glacier, someone from the cruise ship tossed the seagulls a piece of toast so they started flying around the ship looking for more treats.  This one was very demanding of a treat!

I liked the fact that I got a seagull flying in the background of this glacier photo.

There were whales swimming around when I saw this double rainbow.  I made the decision to get the rainbow instead of the whales since I figured I would see more whales.

The eagle photo was taken in Misty Fjords.  We took an excursion out of Ketchikan, Alaska. Ketckikan is the 4th wettest place in the earth; and so it was a very rainy day.  If you'll notice, the eagle looks wet.

I was happy to get a closeup of this eagle at another location.  As we walked back the trail we saw a porcupine in a tree sleeping.  It was too dark to try to get a pic of him.

Here are those beautiful fireweeds again; this time as a foreground to another glacier.

Here's another whale shot.  I am always striving to get that perfect whale shot.

These seals were sleeping when we pulled up.  Then one lifted his head and looked our way.  Aren't they cute?
