Natalie turns 8 and Andrew turns 6

This was Natalie and Andrew's third session by themselves with us and it is always a pleasure to photograph them!  We focused this session mainly in the studio since it was very hot outside, though we did reserve some time to get a few outside images.  Since Natalie was looking forward to the sunflowers we were able to capture her with some early blooming ones down the road from us.  My favorite studio ones are of Andrew telling Natalie a secret so we made that a collage.  My favorite outdoor one is of them sitting on a suitcase facing the valley and you can view those along with our other favorites below.  Enjoy!

I love sunflowers!!!

It was so terribly hot last week when I decided to photograph the sunflowers in our pasture.  Before heading out to photograph the sunflowers, I soaked myself with the garden hose and drove the truck out to our shed where the best batch of sunflowers decided to grow this year on our property.  I knew I would be exhausted from the heat and would not want to carry the tripod back to the house afterwards. :)  The last sunflower below was taken in the studio before heading outside to get the rest of the sunflower images.  Hope you enjoy these lovely flowers of Kansas!

Janelle's Country Portrait Session

I advised Janelle to dress casual to match blue wildflowers and hopefully sunflowers if we could find any that were still decent looking.  We started the session in our gully which are the first two shots below.  Then headed to the blue wildflowers which is the third portrait.  Next, we went atop J-Hill to see if there were any sunflowers left.  We didn't find any but captured a beautiful shot of Janelle looking down the hill into the valley which I converted to black and white.  We did find a few sunflowers left on Erichsen Road and added a pink umbrella as a prop.  Finally we headed back to the studio and finished up outside with the three last portraits shown.  Hope you enjoyed this portrait tour that included my favorites from this session in the country.

Portrait in a tree

This client is a very dear friend of mine.  She was so looking forward to getting her portraits taken and I was so delighted to do so!  Their favorite is the third one down with her sitting in the tree.  We traveled to another friends property to do the tree portrait and on the way back we had to stop and take a few in some sunflowers that were by the side of the road.  I have included the client's favorites from the session for your viewing pleasure...

  

My sunflower garden

I love sunflowers!!!!  Just this week they started sprouting around my front yard, and not just a few.  They sprouted in bunches!  I braved the 100 degree heat, chiggers and bees to capture these lovely wildflowers that God placed in my yard.  Enjoy.... :)

Marjorie ~ 8th Grade Graduate of 2013

Marjorie is my first 8th grade graduate for 2013.  We were excited to be able to photograph her in the gorgeous sunflowers and wildflowers on a perfect day--no wind and overcast!  Her outfits went so well with the pretty wildflowers and made for such colorful portraits! The brown horse in the photographs is Reese Cup, Marjorie's horse.  Her mom told me later she was surprised we were able to get photographs with Reese as Marjorie is very allergic to horses.  There are so many favorites from her session I will break her sessions into to blog posts--outside and studio.  Here are my outside favorites from her session for your viewing pleasure....
